An opticians in Clydebank is dedicating two days this week to raising awareness of the impact of hearing loss.

Specsavers in the Clyde Shopping Centre is expanding its audiology service to cover customers across Clydebank, Milngavie and Dumbarton.

To mark the development, the store will be hosting audiology events at Specsavers Milngavie on Wednesday 17 January and at Specsavers Dumbarton on Thursday 18 January.

Hearing aid audiologist

Hearing aid audiologist Kenny Gordon and representatives from hearing aid manufacturer Widex will be on-hand to provide help and advice.

Kenny studied audiology on a two-year distance learning course at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh while working in store, and qualified as a hearing aid audiologist at the end of last year.

In the role, he will carry out more than 20 tests a week.

Raising awareness

Specsavers Clydebank director Billy Shaw said: ‘Our hearing-focused days will give customers the chance to talk to our audiologist and find out more about the services we provide.

‘They’re aimed at anyone who is unsure about what audiology is and what it involves, or who is unsure about wearing a hearing aid for the first time.

‘The team will be carrying out hearing health checks and making customers aware of all of the services available in store. Having Kenny in the role means that we can continue to grow and develop our audiology service.

‘We have a fantastic range of hearing aids available in store and our dedicated team is always on hand to offer hearing advice and conduct assessments.’

Designed and built by world-leading manufacturers, Specsavers’ digital aids feature the latest innovations in hearing assistance – they even know when the wearer is at home or in a favourite restaurant and adapt accordingly.
