Specsavers in Clacton-on-Sea is relocating into a larger premise at 68a Pier Avenue CO15 1NH, to extend its optical and audiology services.

The store will close on Monday 23 July to implement the big move and reopen in the brand new building on Thursday 26 July.

Originally opened by dispensing optician Lee Holcombe in 1996, who now has over 35 years of experience in optics, the store welcomed optometrist Yashesh Shah as a director in 2011, before retail director Stuart Moir became part of the team five years later, bringing with him over 25 years of retail experience.

Increasing services

When talking about the new store location, Stuart, said: ‘We have outgrown our current store and need bigger premises to cater for the increase in services we now offer. We strongly believe Clacton has a bright future ahead so we are delighted to finally find a suitable location which is still in the town centre and will serve us for many years to come.’

The new store will create 10 new job opportunities for the local community, including a number of optometrists, allowing the store to increase the number of clinics per week dramatically. Stuart continues: ‘More clinics per week as well as staff increases will lead to appointment waiting times for our customers being considerably reduced. We will also have dedicated clinics for contact lenses and our enhanced optical services to treat minor eye conditions.’

Audiology improved

Audiology services at Specsavers in Clacton-on-Sea have been vastly improved since the beginning of the year, with the addition of Nasim Jalal joining the team as audiology director. Nasim said: ‘Our new store will include two specific, soundproofed hearcare rooms.

Along with free hearing tests and dispensing hearing aids, we are now able to offer wax removal services for our customers’. Nasim will soon be able to offer private hearing tests in the Frinton-on-sea area.

Other improvements at the new store will include three, comfortable waiting areas and a contact lens zone, which will allow the store to create double the amount of contact lens appointments.
