Specsavers in Chiswick is appealing to anyone with old spectacles going spare to donate them to the store’s ongoing Vision Aid Appeal.
The opticians is continuing to collect used and unwanted glasses for the charity, which helps to provide professional eye to people living in challenging conditions in Africa.
A good cause
Specsavers Chiswick has requested customers drop off all glasses, without cases, in the store’s collection box. These glasses are then collected and recycled, with proceeds generated from the reusable parts used to fund outreach services and send eyecare professionals to communities.
Irfan Akhtar, store director at Specsavers Chiswick, said: ‘We were able to send off more than 1,000 glasses to Vision Aid in the second half of 2017 but we’re now looking to break that figure this year, and we would encourage anyone with old specs to drop them off in store.’
