Specsavers Cheylesmore are starting the year with a focus on gaining new skills, as several members of staff undertake training courses for specialised optical qualifications.
While newly qualified dispensing optician Mark Nevey puts his qualification into practice, assistant store manager Paul Craner joins manager Kieran Chavda on the two-year dispensing optician course.
The course involves a rigorous programme, with a total of 64 weekly assignments across two years, both practical and theory exams, and the submission of a pre-qualification portfolio of 51 case records to qualify.
Meanwhile, optical assistant Pavel Wisniewski is currently studying for the Cert 4 qualification, which will be assessed in summer. The store is also looking forward to welcoming a new pre-reg optician in June.
A word from the store director
‘It’s a very busy period for the staff at the moment,’ said store director, Alistair Campbell. ‘We are committed to supporting the team to progress professionally and gain new qualifications. We’re very proud of the fantastic team we have here; they are our greatest asset and ensuring that they are developing is crucial to our business.’
