The team from Specsavers in the town centre and Sainsbury’s on the Gallagher Retail Park got stuck in at this year’s Children’s Festival which was held at the Town Hall over the bank holiday weekend.
Children who visited the stand were each given a goody bag which contained sweets, colouring pencils, a bouncy ball and a colouring book. There was also something for the adults, with parents receiving a goody bag which contained spectacle spray, a cleaning cloth and a keyring.
A variety of games were on offer too, with youngsters asked to match up the eye and ear to the right animal, a game based on eye colour and a crossword. A colouring competition was also run on the day, with two winners who each won a Jessica’s Sweet Shop bouquet.
Opportunity to meet locals
‘We all thoroughly enjoyed the day and hopefully everyone who came to see us did too,’ said Paulette Green, contact lens optician.
‘It was a great opportunity to meet lots of local people and we’ve also offered some incentives for anyone who comes into the store afterwards. Children who come in for either a sight test or to buy glasses will receive an extra prize, while any parent who comes in with a stamped appointment card from the day will get a discounted sight test.’
