Specsavers Cheltenham raised £450 to help support contact lens optician, Paulette Green whose family are heading out to Africa with Bwengu Projects which helps communities in Malawi.

Family involvement

Paulette and her daughter Rhiannan manned a stall in the store selling a range of homewares as well as hot drinks and cakes.

‘We were thrilled with the support that our customers showed us,’ said Paulette. ‘Rhiannan and her aunt and uncle are heading out to Malawi in August. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who either bought something or made a donation.’

A good cause

Bwengu Projects is an NGO that works in northern Malawi, helping to complete various building projects at local village schools, churches and medical centres. The work also includes providing food at orphan’s care feeding stations, providing bursary fees for some 300 orphans or secondary school children in need and providing adult education evening classes.
