Specsavers Cheltenham is supporting national charity Brake in its annual road safety awareness drive by donating 150 high-vis vests to Rowanfield Infant School. The store visited the school on Thursday (20 November) to hand the vests over so that the children could use them that day on a school trip.

‘This year’s theme is to look out for each other, which includes making sure children can be seen more clearly, so we thought it would be great to support Rowanfield Infant School to spread this message locally,’ says Melanie Brackstone, store director at Specsavers Cheltenham.

‘While the vests will help to ensure children are more visible during a time where light can be limited, it’s important to educate them as well, so we hope we can instil safety with our school visit.’

Miss Aysha Akif, head teacher at Rowanfield Infant School says: ‘We would like to say a big thank you to Specsavers in Cheltenham for the donation. We run a variety of after school clubs, school trips and outdoor activities and the donation will help us to continue to run these activities safely, even during the darker evenings.’
