The team at Specsavers Chelmsley Wood took part in the UKs first accessible shopping day on 13 November to help raise awareness of the needs of disabled consumers and promote inclusive shopping.

To mark Purple Tuesday members of staff wore purple clothing for the day, teaming up with other shops in Greenwood Square. Music was turned off across the participating stores and in the centre throughout the day, in order to aid the sensory needs of customers with disabilities.

A word from the store director 

‘The team and I were delighted to get involved with the first national accessible shopping day’, said store director, Sukhi Drake. ‘Thank you to all our customers who respected the changes in store’.

Nearly one in five people in the UK has a disability or impairment. The aim of Purple Tuesday is to make customer-facing businesses more aware of these opportunities and challenges and inspire them to make changes to improve the disabled customer experience over the long term.
