A Chelmsley Wood opticians had a special visitor in store at the end of May to raise funds for charity.
Specsavers in Chemsley Wood invited guide dog Jade and her owner Mrs Poole into store as the team carried out an array of fundraising activities, raising £126 in total.
Jade was joined by another furry friend – aka Joe Jordan, the store’s optical assistant, who sported a dog suit!
Staff asked visitors to guess the number of ‘stick-on dog noses in the bag’ in return for donations, as well as running a raffle with the chance to win a pair of single vision sunglasses.
This event was part of an ongoing partnership with Guide Dogs for the Blind which has already seen Specsavers raise enough money to pay for the breeding and training costs of 25 guide dog pups. Guide Dogs provides mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people. It also campaigns for the rights of people with visual impairment, educates the public about eyecare and funds eye disease research.
