The Chelmsley Wood store is helping children to stay safe and be seen this winter as they donate high-visibility vests to a local Brownies group.

To highlight Road Safety Week (17-23 November), Cheryl King from the Chelmsley Wood store handed over 48 vests to the 231st Birmingham Brownies. The children will make use of the vests when out and about with the group as the nights start to draw in.

‘Now that the evenings are getting darker, it’s really important that we help children stay safe in the community,’ said Sukhi Drake, store director at Chelmsley Wood Specsavers. ‘Hopefully, by donating these hi-vis vests, we’ll be able to give parents and pack leaders some peace of mind.’

Sponsored by Specsavers, Road Safety Week is organised each year by Brake. Working to make roads and communities safer, the charity was established in 1997 to raise awareness of road safety and prevent deaths and injuries throughout the year. Visit www.roadsafetyweek.org.uk for more information.
