Chelmsley Wood Specsavers has ensured that more than 21 team members are better equipped to understand the needs of customers suffering dementia through a course run by the Alzheimer’s Society called Dementia Friends.
A word from the store director
Sukhwant Drake, store director of Specsavers Chelmsley Wood said: ‘Having more of an understanding and awareness of dementia is a wonderful development for both our team and our customers.
‘Increasing our knowledge about dementia was really eye opening, making you see its more than just memory. The team all agreed this was a very worthwhile course and now they’re able to really accommodate customers suffering from dementia.’
The training covers how dementia can affect people in different ways, and how different senses can be affected, including sight and hearing.
