The team at Chelmsley Wood Specsavers has raised £1,543 for Blind Veterans UK with a week of fundraising throughout Armed Forces Week (22-28 June).
A week of fundraising
Staff kicked off their fundraising efforts on Saturday 20 June by taking part in a Water Wipeout challenge, before donning camouflage gear to mark Armed Forces Day on Saturday (27 June). The store also donated £1 to the charity for each sight test carried out during the week, while customers were invited to make a spectacle of themselves using the in-store photobooth.
Sukhi Drake, store director, said: ‘We’re incredibly proud of the team who took part in the Water Wipeout challenge. They showed a real commitment to finish the assault course in around 90 minutes, raising a fantastic amount of money for Blind Veterans UK along the way.
‘It was also great to see the rest of our team don their camouflage gear on Armed Forces Day, bringing our week of fundraising to a close. The money we raised will help the charity continue to support more than 4,000 veterans across the country.’
