A BRAVE member of staff from Chelmsley Wood has shown his support for cancer charity, Macmillan, by having his legs waxed in-store, raising more than £300.
All for a good cause
Alex Barfield, store lab technician, underwent the beauty treatment, much to the entertainment of staff, customers and passers-by. Store optician Mini Gudray carried out the waxing and was very proud of her handiwork, ‘Alex was a great sport and it was a good laugh for the rest of the team,’ said Mini.
‘We wanted to hold a fundraiser that was light-hearted and captured the spirit of the team, while still raising vital funds for a worthy cause.’
The rest of the team hosted a charity fun day, complete with homemade goodies and coin-toss games. Customers were invited to try their luck, as well as offer moral support to Alex.
A word from the store director
Store director, Sukhi Drake was impressed with the effort and very proud of the team initiative, ‘Alex very kindly put his hand up to be waxed, and the rest of the team brought in home baked sweets for our customers. Everyone contributed to the fundraising and it was a great day with lots of laughs and far too many delicious treats – but all for a good cause. We’re thrilled to hand over the proceeds to Macmillan.’
