Specsavers staff in Chelmsford are proud to say they are all qualified Dementia Friends.
Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative and helps staff to develop an understanding of dementia and support customers and employees who are affected by the condition.
Megan Hodges, retail manager at Specsavers in Chelmsford, said: ‘Here at the Chelmsford store we’re proud to have all our team qualified as Dementia Friends.
‘Having a good understanding of dementia is really important and taking the qualification has really helped the entire team to support customers who suffer from the condition.’
Megan added: ‘It’s shown us that while performing our everyday duties it’s equally as important to take a little extra time to support and care for customers. It’s been such a rewarding qualification to obtain.’
Close to our hearts
‘The Alzheimer’s Society is a charity that is close to all of our hearts as each of the staff here know someone who has been effected by dementia, so now we’re all Dementia Friends we’re hoping to raise awareness and do some fundraising over the next year too.’
Dementia Friends is a qualification that is completed online and entails watching a series of scenario-based videos.
