It’s the time of year that Specsavers begin the search for Spectacle Wearer of the Year, looking for the countries proudest glasses wearers.
Last year Chelmsford born Natalie Kidd was one of six regional finalists from Essex, who won a £150 voucher for brand new glasses, a bottle of champagne and photoshoot. Also an Essex resident, Alex Miller became 2017’s national winner and took home the prize of £10,000.
£10,000 up for grabs
Patrick Cooper, store director of Specsavers in Chelmsford said: ‘It was a pleasure to have a regional finalist in our town and we are sure that Chelmsford can produce the next Spectacle Wearer of the Year. I’m looking forward to seeing all the entries.’
Specsavers donate one pound to anti-bullying charity Kidscape for each entry into the competition. Over the past nine years the opticians has raised more than half a million pounds, to support the charity in providing practical support to children and families affected by bullying, including advice resources, phone support and workshops.
Everyone over 16 can enter
The competition has five age categories – 16-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-59 and over 60s – plus a Facebook favourite voted for by the public. A winner from each category will win a VIP makeover and mingle with celebrities at the awards in London in October.
To enter the competition simply take a selfie and visit specsavers.co.uk/loveglassecomp. Deadline for entries is 1 July 2018.
