Team members at Specsavers Chard have completed a course developed hand-in-hand with The National Autistic Society, to support customers with autism.
The initiative, which is being rolled out across Specsavers stores nationwide, builds the team’s knowledge about the lifelong developmental disability while helping to improve the customer experience for people with autism and their carers.
A word from the director
Stephen Watson, store director at Specsavers Chard, says: ‘Autism affects more than one in 100 people1 and as our stores are such a big part of the community, it is vital that we are able to communicate and support someone with the condition in the most effective way possible.’
A smooth customer journey
Thanks to the training session staff members are now able to help someone with autism from the moment they enter the store, from an eye test to selecting the right glasses for them.
