The Specsavers Cardigan team is celebrating after its optical assistant, Gemma Humphries, successfully passed internal examinations designed to boost her knowledge and the care she can provide.
Change of pace
Following two years of study, Gemma has passed her Specsavers Cert 3 qualification - having moved to Cardigan from Haverfordwest in 2016 to start a new career in optics.
The 27-year-old, who left the food and hospitality industry to start a career in eye care, says: ‘I’ve always had a passion for helping people. The move allowed me to focus on my career and I’ve found something that is more suited to me.’
Gemma is now seeking to complete her Cert 3 EOS top up, an additional qualification that will enable her to administer certain treatment to patients without supervision.
Rowena Greasely, store manager at Specsavers Cardigan, says: ‘Gemma is a great addition to the team and has worked hard since she arrived.
‘Gemma perfects whatever job she does and will give it her all. She has a natural flair for this business and I have no doubt she will pass her Cert 3 EOS top up with flying colours. I wish her every success.’
