Specsavers in Cardigan is celebrating the success of seven studious staff members who have all recently earned advanced optical qualifications.
Investing heavily in staff
The High Street store has been investing heavily in staff training and development in a bid to encourage career progression. Optical assistants Wyn Jones, Rachel O’Brien, Steve Jones and Sian Parry-Jones have all successfully completed Specsavers level three certificates in clinical and ophthalmic dispensing, some with top-up qualifications, as part of their career development programmes.
Students are assessed on a variety of subjects, including the anatomy of the eye, understanding visual problems and dispensing glasses.
Joining the celebrations is laboratory manager James Jones, who passed his level four certificate and is now working towards qualifying as a dispensing optician, while store manager, Rowena Greasley, is studying for an ILM 4 management diploma, which she hopes to complete in April.
‘So proud of my team’
‘I am so proud of the team and all they have achieved,’ said Ms Greasley. ‘We place great value on career development, ensuring staff have the opportunity to develop their skillset and increase their qualifications.
'Not only is it important to their long-term growth, but it also ensures that our customers are given the best possible service.
‘Our team is a great example of what can be achieved. Their progression is inspirational and makes me work harder to ensure I can provide them with the direction and leadership they deserve.’
