Four team members at Specsavers in Cardigan have raised nearly £300 for Velindre Cancer Centre by taking part in a sponsored stiletto challenge.
Rowena Greasley, store manager, David Easterbrook, optometrist, Wyn Jones, optical assistant and James Jones, lab technician, all donned their highest heels for a day in store, raising a total of £281.75.
In store stroll
Velindre is Specsavers’ national Charity of the Year in Wales. The charity encourages Specsavers stores to hold an annual ‘Stiletto Stroll’, as a fun way to raise funds for the cause.
Heledd Hallet, director of Specsavers in Cardigan, said: ‘The whole team has really got behind our fundraising activities for Velindre this year, and we wanted to do something a bit different with this stiletto challenge.
‘There were sore feet by closing time, but the whole team lasted the entire day in their heels. Our male team members’ bright red pairs certainly attracted a lot of laughs from customers, as well as very generous donations.
‘I’m delighted to have raised such a significant amount for Velindre, which helps so many people across Wales. I’d like to thank all our customers for their donations and congratulate Rowena, David, Wyn and James for taking part.’
