Kind-hearted customers of Specsavers on Queen Street have raised nearly £300 so disabled and disadvantaged children can enjoy an unforgettable holiday.

Once-in-a-lifetime holiday opportunities

For the past year, staff have collected donations from generous customers for HCPT, a charity offering pilgrimage holidays to disabled and disadvantaged children and young people, aged eight to 18, from the UK and beyond.

Their efforts raised £297 for the organisation, which arranges trips to Lourdes, in the south of France, for 1,000 youngsters at Easter and hundreds more during the summer. While the charity has its roots in the Catholic faith, it supports young people regardless of their religious beliefs.

Generous customers

Nicola Edwards, manager at Specsavers on Queen Street, said: ‘We are delighted to have raised so much for such a worthwhile cause. Once again, our customers have displayed their kindness and generosity by supporting the phenomenal work this charity does for so many.

‘We thoroughly enjoy giving back to the community, and fundraise whenever possible for organisations that are making a difference to young people’s lives. Our team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who put their hand in their pocket to spread some sunshine and give these children an unforgettable holiday.’
