Specsavers Cameron Toll has invested into the future of one of their staff members.
Sonia Pidd- Capelleras is a 21 year old Optometry student from Straiton, Edinburgh, and is in her second year at Glasgow Caledonian University.
As part of the stores investment into Sonia’s development, they have sponsored and provided her with a Retinoscope and Ophthalmoscope that she requires to carry out her studies and will then use when she is a qualified optician.
Sonia will carry out her Pre-Registration year at Cameron Toll in 2020.
Experience is invaluable
Sonia said: ‘I’ve always worn glasses myself and whenever I visited the opticians I always found it very interesting and thought it was something I might like doing.
‘I enjoy working at Specsavers as it’s an opportunity to apply my knowledge from university to real-life situations.'
Sonia added: ‘The Cameron Toll is a very busy Edinburgh store and the work is challenging but very enjoyable. Everyone is so helpful and committed to my development and I’m looking forward to putting all the theory I have been taught into practice.’
Learning and development
Store director Damien Noade added: ‘We’re committed to giving everyone who joins us here at Specsavers all the learning and development opportunities they need to achieve their full potential.
‘We pride ourselves on delivering the very best service for each of our customers, and investing in the growth and development of our team is a fantastic way to do that. Sonia is from Edinburgh which is really important to us – and our customers – as we continue to invest in the local community.’
