A word from our hearing director
Jonathan Bell, hearing director at Specsavers Audiologists in Edinburgh said: ‘Amazingly our ears biologically self-clean and ear wax helps to maintain the health of our ears.
'But problems can arise when items, such as cotton buds or ear plugs, are inserted into the ear. This interferes with the ear’s natural cleaning process and pushes wax and debris further into the ear, which can cause build-up or a blockage of the ear canal.
‘Wax build-up also makes it very difficult to perform accurate hearing tests, so this new service means customers can have everything managed at the same time.
‘If you notice any of the symptoms of impacted wax, including sudden or partial hearing loss, tinnitus, a feeling of fullness in the ear or earache, then we advise you to visit our audiologist in store who can help resolve the issue.’
