Glamorous glasses wearers in Cambridge will have the chance to claim an amazing prize of £10,000 in cash with the return of Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.

Entries are now open for Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2018, and Specsavers Cambridge – Fitzroy Street and Specsavers Cambridge – Lion Yard Centre is encouraging residents to take part by submitting selfies of themselves with their glasses.

Selected finalists will be invited to join Steps singer Claire Richards at a star-studded awards ceremony in London, where an overall winner will receive the grand prize.

Best of luck

Henry Churchill, director at both Specsavers stores, said: ‘We’re excited to announce the return of Spectacle Wearer of the Year and we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for all local glasses wearers entering this year’s competition.’

The competition has five age categories – 16-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-59 and over 60s – plus a Facebook favourite voted for by the public. A winner from each category will win a VIP makeover and mingle with celebrities at the awards in London in October.

One pound will also be donated to Kidscape for each entry made, with the money raised helping to support the charity in providing practical support to children and families affected by bullying. Spectacle Wearer of the Year has raised more than half a million pounds for anti-bullying charity Kidscape over the past nine years.
