Surrey! It is time to dig out all those old, unwanted glasses and pop them into your local Specsavers opticians. Why? They are recycled to make money for a fantastic charitable cause.
Helping Vision Aid Overseas
Specsavers teams across Surrey and further afield have long been supporters of this great charity. Collectively over the years, the business has raised enough funds to build a school of optometry in Zambia and open eyecare outreach clinics in much of the country.
How Surrey can help
Without the kind donations we receive internationally, nationally and locally, such great achievements would not be possible. Surrey residents have always been very kind with donations and we want to say a thank you – and ask that you keep it up to help individuals improve the eye health of those less fortunate in the developing world.
How your old frames make a difference
Every pair of frames received get donated to Vision Aid Overseas. The charity raises vital income to support their activities overseas by recycling old, donated frames in an environmentally friendly way. This includes giving people those all-important eye tests and treatment by training up local optometrists. The role they play is vital in reaching nearly 640 million people (10% of the world's population) who are believed to be disadvantaged by poor vision and a lack of spectacles.
