1. Tell us a little about yourself…
My name is Geraint Jones and I’m 27. I’m originally from Treorchy in the Rhondda Valley, but now live in Penarth. One of my favourite things to do is travel to new places, and this year I’ve visited Hong Kong and New Zealand. I also enjoy skiing.
2. How did you come to run a Specsavers store?
I started working at the Specsavers store in Caerphilly when I was 17 years old as a Saturday assistant, and continued working at the store during my optometry degree in Cardiff University. In 2009, I then started full-time to complete my pre-registration period. I’ve been an optometrist at the store ever since, and became a partner in January 2013. My main responsibility in store is making sure that our teams are able to deliver a brilliant clinical and customer service.
From October 2014 I’m also going to be a partner at the Pontypridd store, and will be working in both branches. I’m looking forward to getting to know the team and customers in Pontypridd.
3. Do you were specs, and if so, what is your favourite style?
I used to wear glasses as a child, and I think it was this that made me interested in becoming an optician. I feel one of the most important parts of my job is raising awareness of children having regular sight tests.
4. What is the best part of your role?
The best part of my job is reading customer feedback, praising the service that my teams deliver. It always makes me very proud and is something we at the store strive to continue.
5. How many members of staff do you have working at your store?
We employ 25 people at the Caerphilly store and 25 at the Pontypridd store.
