A new branch of a national optician chain opened in a supermarket this month. Specsavers opened a shop in the Sainsbury's store on the Warren Retail Park in Ashford on Monday, October 22. A launch party is expected to take place, with more details of the event expected nearer the opening.

A word from the store director

Elizabeth Hutchinson, store director at Specsavers in Ashford and at the Bybrook's Sainsbury's, said: 'Specsavers’ partnership with Sainsbury’s continues to grow and the new Bybrook store, which will open its doors on 22 October, joins many other Specsavers stores to open in the supermarket chain.

‘Similarly to other Specsavers stores in the country, we have decided to invest in an OCT machine, which produces a structural scan of the of the eye, including layers of the eye that would not normally be visible using traditional eye testing techniques. The technology helps to identify signs of diseases years earlier than traditional methods.

Offering proffesional and affordable eye care

‘An OCT machine is usually only available in hospitals, so the convenience of having the state-of-the-art technology in Aylesford itself will be hugely beneficial for local people.

'We are delighted with the success of our collaboration with Sainsbury’s and look forward to continuing our relationship, offering professional, affordable and convenient eye care to more and more of their customers. We are also looking to organise a launch party a few weeks after the opening of the store, where there will be cake and goodie bags for customers, so watch this space!’
