Staff at Specsavers Burton on Trent stepped up to a challenge (13-18 July) as they took part in a walkathon to raise funds for Dementia UK.
The team at the store took it in turns to walk on a treadmill in store, with the aim of each completing four miles. The activity culminated on Saturday (18 July) when the store held a fundraising day for the charity, complete with a tombola.
Staff at the store were keen to support one of their dispensing managers, Clara James, who is aiming to complete six open water swims this summer, totalling four miles, to raise funds for Dementia UK.
‘We were really impressed by Clara’s commitment to take on the challenge – it’s no mean feat when you’re not a regular swimmer – so we wanted to help her,’ said Linda Joyce, store director at Specsavers in Burton on Trent.
Dementia UK is a national charity, committed to improving quality of life for all people affected by dementia.
