The star of a Specsavers TV commercial was encouraging Burton shoppers to step up to the challenge and join her in a street Zumba session outside the High Street store last weekend.
Hayley-Jo Whitney is known to millions as the short-sighted fitness teacher in the memorable advert, who led a group of pensioners expecting a bingo session with an energetic workout instead.
The special guest wowed passers-by with a high-energy Zumba routine on Burton’s High Street as part of the store’s 25th birthday celebrations.
Store director Linda Joyce said: ‘We were really excited about bringing Hayley-Jo to Burton and created quite a buzz this weekend. It was great seeing shoppers joining in the fun as well as our team!
‘Our actual store birthday is on 16 September, when we will celebrate a quarter of a century of being part of the Burton retail community. We’ll have lots going on that weekend. It’s a special opportunity for a celebration which we look forward to sharing with the town that has supported us since 1992.’
The 25th anniversary coincides with the start of National Eye Health Week (18-24 September) and will include fun activities to raise money for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), Guide Dogs and the LoveInspire Foundation.
