How much do you know about glaucoma?
The chances are that, unless you are already living with it, the answer is probably not much.
Did you know, for example, that while it is a serious eye condition – and the leading cause of sight loss – it can often show no symptoms until it has already damaged your eyes?
Or that regular eye tests are the best way to check for glaucoma, and great for generally keeping your eyes healthy? Fortunately, the eye health experts at Specsavers Burgess Hill are here to help.
A word from the store director
Maggie Johnson, store director in Burgess Hill, said: ‘You can get glaucoma at any age, although it is more common as you get older. Having your eyes tested regularly can increase the chances of the condition being detected early, which could reduce your risk of sight loss.
‘You might notice some blurring of your vision, but there may be no symptoms at all. Any sight you lose before it is identified cannot be restored, but the right treatment can stop it getting any worse.
‘Our team have recently upskilled to offer an even better service to our customers with glaucoma, so if you need some advice – or help using your eye drops effectively – why not pop in and see us.’
