Recently-qualified dispensing optician and supervisor, Lisa Brown has been with Specsavers for just over eight years, beginning her journey in Newbridge and continuing it in London.
A bit about Lisa
Lisa grew up in Derry, Ireland before moving to London to join her circle of friends already resident in the big smoke. Lisa was part of the original team at Specsavers Holborn before moving down the road to the store in the Brunswick Centre.
The journey to qualifying
Staying true to the professional ethos, store directors Raj Kukadia and James Goldenberg decided to sponsor Lisa to become qualified as a dispensing optician.
34-year-old Lisa said: ‘I have been working in optics for such a long time now and started off with no experience. It’s been a long journey but with the support of Specsavers I can now happily say that I’m a supervisor and dispensing optician!
‘I’ve worked so hard over the last four years to gain the qualification and now I feel a real sense of pride and validation – it was completely worth it, I feel like I’ve won the lottery.’
More about Lisa
Lisa enjoys painting in her spare time including abstract acrylic pieces. A part-time specs-wearer herself, Lisa has a pair of retro frames which are her favourite.
Lisa said: ‘My favourite part of the job is helping people to get the perfect pair of glasses. I work on every aspect from helping them choose their frames to adjustments to prescriptions. I ensure each pair is completely personalised to the customer on how they look, fit and function.’
