The team from Specsavers in Brownhills wore crazy hats to mark Wear A Hat Day on Thursday 29 March and raised funds for Brain Tumour Research.
As well as wearing hats, the team held a toy tombola, offering a prize every time. For a donation of £1, customers were invited to choose a jigsaw puzzle piece that had a number on the back.
Once the Pirates of the Caribbean puzzle jigsaw puzzle was complete, the team chose a piece at random and the customer who chose that piece became the lucky winner of a £100 Specsavers voucher.
A word from the store director
Store director, Justine Page, said: ‘We had a great day wearing fun hats to raise funds and awareness for Brain Tumour Research, enabling the charity to continue with its invaluable research.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
‘That’s why we’re so keen to support the cause,’ continued Justine. ‘Eye tests are more than prescription checks as underlying conditions can be picked up, including brain tumours. This is why we recommend everyone has an eye test once every two years, even if you don’t wear specs.’
