How long have you been with Specsavers?
I’ve been in it for the long haul with Specsavers – 23 years’ service and counting now!
Has optometry always been your background? If not, what did you do previously?
Yes, my background has always been in optics. I’ve been at various different opticians over the years starting off with Dollond & Aitchison back in 1976.
What made you go into optometry and what are your qualifications?
In all honesty, it was pure chance that I stumbled across optometry but haven’t looked back since. I started out as a qualified CLO (contact lens optician) and dispensing optician and have progressed through the ranks to be where I am now.
Where were you born/raised?
I was born in Zimbabwe but was raised in Kenya and Scotland.
What is your favourite part about the job?
I find it a hugely rewarding profession – on a daily basis I am able to come in contact with a vastly diverse local community and I hear so many interesting stories from inspiring people. I also like the versatility of the industry – each day is always different to the last and there is never a dull moment.
What are your personal interests?
I’m a keen golfer.
