The team at Brixham Specsavers are one step closer to award success after they were shortlisted in the optical assistant team of the year category in the prestigious Optician Awards.
More than 500 respected members of the optical community are heading to the annual awards ceremony on 1 April at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham where the team hope to beat off competition from four other optical practices to bring home the trophy.
Brixham store manager, Eddie Muttu, says: ‘The fact that the team have been shortlisted for this incredible award is testament to their hard work and community support.
‘In 2016 we came together as a team to support our local community including a tea party in aid of the Torbay lifeboats and a Christmas food donation in December.
‘In my eyes we are already winners but we’ll have to wait until April to see if we return to Brixham with the trophy!’
What makes a winner?
The optical assistant team of the year category is designed to reward a support team of optical staff that demonstrated excellence in customer service and patient care. The judges looked at reception and other non-optical staff who made a tangible difference to the experience of customers and the practice’s success.
The judging panel looked for teamwork that made customers look forward to their visit to the practice and also encourages their friends to use it as well.
The judges wanted to hear how the team interacted with patients, how products and services are communicated, and the approaches made to training and gathering feedback. The judges were also interested in all those special things that made customers come back for more.
