A member of staff at Specsavers Bridgnorth has recently qualified as a Dry Eye Champion after completing a training course.

Julia Harper, receptionist at the store, can now advise customers on a variety of dry eye conditions and suitable treatments, including drops, gels or ointments.

Help and advice

Store director Teresa Hughes commented: ‘We’re delighted for Julia on the successful completion of her course. Dry eye is a problem for many, but we want our local community to know that there are members of staff in store who can give the best advice on how to deal with the condition.’

Dry eye occurs when the eyes don’t make enough tears or tears evaporate too quickly. Symptoms usually affect both eyes and often include a feeling of dryness, grittiness or soreness, red eyes or temporarily blurred vision.

Julia added: ‘There are several causes for dry eye, such as a hot or windy environment, wearing contact lenses or certain underlying medical conditions. If you have any concerns, don’t hesitate to visit us in store for help and advice.’
