Customers visiting Specsavers in Bridgnorth opticians were greeted by local hero, Dana Power (aka Puff the dragon), who is helping them raise funds for Asthma UK.
Dana, from Bridgnorth, is renowned for running marathons as the mascot for Asthma UK wearing a 15-kilo dragon costume.
On Tuesday 23 January, he visited the store to collect specs and raise awareness about the charity week coming up at the store. From Monday 12 February until Sunday 18 February, Specsavers in Bridgnorth will be donating £1 from every sight test to Asthma UK.
A word from the store director
‘It was great to meet Dana and hear all about his charity experience,’ said Teresa Hughes, store director at Specsavers Bridgnorth. ‘The work Dana has been involved with in the community is brilliant and his fundraising total is phenomenal. We wish him the very best of luck in the London Marathon this year.
‘We are hoping the community will get behind us to raise as much as possible for Asthma UK during our week of fundraising. If you are yet to book an appointment, please do so and you’ll be contributing towards a great cause.’
This will be Dana’s eighth London Marathon, five of which he has run wearing his dragon costume. So far, Dana has raised £35,000 with most of the money going to Cameron's Fund and Asthma UK and he is also now the star of a children’s book called The Marvellous Marathon Dragon.
