A sporty staff member from Specsavers in Bridgnorth has taken on two local challenges in a bid to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Administrator and dispensing assistant Dannii Gardener will take part in the annual 22-mile Bridgnorth Lions Walk on Monday 29 May, followed by the Shrewsbury Half Marathon on Sunday 18 June, and is urging people to support her efforts.
‘One of the most important things Prostate Cancer UK is doing is encouraging men all over the country to stop ignoring their overall health,’ Dannii said. ‘Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and one in eight men will be affected in their lifetime, so raising awareness is vital.’
Making a difference
Founded in 1996, Prostate Cancer UK aims to improve the care and welfare of those affected by prostate cancer, increase investment in research and raise public and political awareness of the disease.
Teresa Hughes, store director at Specsavers Bridgnorth said: ‘Prostate Cancer UK is a fantastic charity making a big difference to the lives of men across the country. Dannii is working so hard not only to prepare for the walk and half marathon, but to encourage as many donations as she can. The team here are behind her 100 percent!’
