Specsavers Bridgend has been awarded ‘Platinum Employer’ status for its dedication to staff wellbeing and career development.
Benchmark of quality
The Adare Street store received the company’s accreditation after being assessed by an independent, external employee engagement specialist. The process included interviews with staff. The store also had to prove various policies and procedures were being adhered to.
Specsavers’ 2020 ambition is to become ‘famous as a great place to work’. Its Platinum Employer initiative is part of that. To be awarded Platinum Employer status, stores must pass various areas of people management standards: performance management and reward, learning and development, and employee communications and engagement.
‘Fully committed’ staff
Stuart Buckmaster, director of the Bridgend store, says: ‘Investing in our staff has always been important. We want to make sure they have access to the best opportunities. Everybody here knows their career is taken seriously and they are keen to discuss personal development. They are important to the store and the community.
‘Our customers feel welcome and safe, knowing our staff are fully committed to their work and take pride in what they do. This accreditation demonstrates that.’
