Specsavers is on the search for 2018’s Spectacle Wearer of the Year, with the chance to win a £10,000 cash prize.
In 2017 more regional finalists were picked in Essex than any other county in the UK and Ireland combined, with six being chosen, including Brentwood-based comic Lee Brace and national winner Alex Miller from Silver End, suggesting that the county is the most glamorous of specs wearers in the country.
Are Essex specs-wearers the most glam?
Glasses wearers from across Brentwood, aged 16 and over can enter the competition by sending a selfie wearing their favourite specs. Finalists will attend the uber-glam awards ceremony in London, with one overall winner scooping the top award and cash prize. For each entry Specsavers will donate £1 to anti-bullying charity Kidscape and have raised over half a million pounds over the past nine years, to support the charity in providing practical support to children and families affected by bullying, including advice resources, phone support and workshops.
Manoj Patel, store director at Specsavers Brentwood, said ‘It was a pleasure to have a regional finalist in our town and we are sure that Brentwood can produce the next Spectacle Wearer of the Year. I’m looking forward to seeing all the entries.’
Celebrity filled award ceremony
The competition has five age categories – 16-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-59 and over 60s – plus a Facebook favourite voted for by the public. A winner from each category will win a VIP makeover and mingle with celebrities at the awards in London in October.
To be in with a chance of scooping the biggest accolade in the specs-wearing world, glasses wearers can enter the competition online at specsavers.co.uk/loveglassecomp. Deadline for entries is 1st July 2018.
