Specsavers store directors across Essex took part in a county-wide charity bike ride to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, including Brentwood store director Manoj Patel.
Cycling across the county
The team of seven cycled an impressive 64 miles across the county’s countryside, made up of Essex store directors and Essex regional relationship manager, Roy Thorogood.
Original pledge smashed
In an outstanding effort by the Specsavers cyclists, a whopping £1,817 was raised, smashing their original pledge of £1,000.
Speaking about the charity cycle, Manoj said: ‘It was a really tough challenge but it was all for such a great cause. Dementia affects 820,000 people in the UK and around 23 million people in the UK have a close friend or family member with dementia.
‘We’ve exceeded our target so we’re really pleased. I’m looking forward to more charity events in the future.’
