A sponsored 10k walk has seen the Brecon team raise £332 for Dial-A-Ride, a local taxi service for elderly and disabled people.
A local support group
Five members from the Specsavers store on High Street, with their relatives, completed a 10k walk around Talybont Reservoir and Talybont waterfalls.
The store helped to raise funds for the taxi service which was launched by the Brecon & District disABLEd Club. The group dedicate themselves to completing essential trips to and from the hospital, hairdressers and supermarkets, to name a few.
Giving back to the community
‘We wanted to raise funds for Dial-A-Ride as we know how grateful a lot of our patients are for its services – many wouldn’t have been able to get to our store for their eye tests without it,’ says dispensing optician, Hannah Shepherd, who took part in the walk.
‘The money will go towards general vehicle maintenance as well as petrol costs, so this donation will be going back into the Brecon community and help support Dial-A-Ride’s services.
‘We’re always grateful to the locals for their donations. They never fail to dig deep and demonstrate their generosity.’
