Specsavers in Brecon has thanked its community for its support in helping raise more than £150 for a local day centre for the elderly.
Raffle for fundraising
A raffle, organised by the team, with prizes donated by businesses in the town, raised £152.70 for Arosfa day care centre on Camden Road. The money will go towards running costs for the day centre, which provides a host of services for Brecon’s older and more vulnerable residents.
Winner David Rickets, 68, from Glasbury, won a feast of local produce, with prizes including a homemade cake from Cegin Fach, meat donated by local butchers Easts, and Co-op wine and chocolates.
‘We wanted to help’
Donna Like, director at Specsavers in Brecon, said: ‘We pride ourselves on being a community business and when we heard that Arosfa was facing closure due to lack of funding, we wanted to help. It is a vital service to many of our customers and own family members and we felt it was important to contribute in some way to make sure that the fantastic service it provides continues.
‘We’ve been overwhelmed by the support we received from other local businesses and from all those who bought tickets. We hope to continue to receive support from locals and customers, to be able to donate as much money as we can to Arosfa.’
