Optometrist Hemalie Patel from Specsavers in Bradley Stoke is running the Bristol Half-Marathon on Sunday 21 September in aid of Bristol-base charity, Above & Beyond.
The charity, which supports the work of Bristol’s eight city centre hospitals, raises funds to improve the hospital environment, support ground breaking research, provide specialist medical training for staff and new state-of-the-art equipment.
Ed Stanleigh, store director at Specsavers, Bradley Stoke says: ‘We’re all behind Hemalie and helping her to fundraise for Above & Beyond, our store’s chosen charity. In particular, we are raising money for the children’s ward at Bristol Eye Hospital and are hoping to raise hundreds of pounds to support their vital work.
‘The store is currently offering free sight tests, and we’d be grateful if in return, customers would consider donating their loose change to the charity.
‘We have been raising money all year through an in-store competition and raffle, as well as sponsoring colleagues in the Bristol 10k back in May, and hope to reach a target of £1000 by the end of the year.’
