Two members of staff from Specsavers in Bradley Stoke are celebrating after passing an advanced optical qualification.
Julie Rafferty, who is a training ambassador and joined the team in 2012, and Elisha Meachin, who is an NHS administrator and joined started working at the store in 2015, passed the Cert 4 course first time.
The qualification is the equivalent of the first year dispensing optician (DO) course and is very physics and maths focussed. Julie and Elisha now have a more in-depth knowledge of how lenses work and will be able to help solve customers’ problems.
'Over the moon'
‘We’re both over the moon to have graduated and passed our Cert 4 as it was quite tough,’ said Julie.
‘The team have been so supportive in the process. Any time we had any questions, we were able to ask the optometrists or DOs in store, so that was really helpful.’
'Committed to supporting staff'
Store director Ed Stanleigh, commented: ‘We’re delighted that Julie and Elisha passed their Cert 4 exams, they worked really hard on the course.
'We’re committed to supporting our staff and it’s always a pleasure to see our hardworking team develop their skills and progress in their careers.’
