In aid of World Cancer Day, Specsavers in Bradley Stoke hosted a fundraising day and raised more than £400 for children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent, their nominated charity partner for 2018.

Customers and passers-by were greeted with a cake sale and a charity bake-off in store. Katie Perry bagged first place with her carrot cake muffins and Julie Rafferty came second with her chocolate orange cakes.

To help boost the fundraising total, eight-year-old Karolina, whose mum works at the store, sold loom bands with her friend and raised nearly £30. Joining the fundraising festivities were Caroline Marshall, representative from CLIC Sargent, and Tom Aditya, Deputy Mayor of Bradley Stoke.

'Supporting a great cause'

‘It was a great day for everyone involved and we had lots of fun,’ said training ambassador, Julie. ‘It’s so important for our teams to get behind a good cause and throw every effort into fundraising. To think that we raised £430 for our first fundraising event of the year is great and we hope to raise lots more money for the charity in 2018.’
