Thanks to a significant donation from the teams at Specsavers in Bradford and Girlington, the outdoor playground at Horton Park Primary School has re-opened, with an exciting new activity area for the children to enjoy.

The stores have been working with staff at Horton Park Primary School, after responding to an urgent appeal for assistance to revamp an unused courtyard area.

£1,000 donation
The Specsavers team donated £1,000 to the school, which has funded the installation of a giant chess board, planters and seating areas where the children can play, read and relax in a safe and tranquil environment.

A VIP appearance
The project was officially unveiled to excited pupils and staff on Thursday 25 June.
Councillor Joanne Dodds, Lord Mayor of Bradford, went on a tour of the new facilities and presented a giant cheque to the children on behalf of the Specsavers staff.

Speaking about what it means to the school, Deputy Head Mrs Salma Rahman said: ‘We’re really grateful to the Specsavers team for their help. This unique area provides our children with a stimulating, safe learning zone. Our pupils work incredibly hard and we’re thrilled that they finally have an original space to play in during their break and lunch times.’

A word from the store director
Peter Rooke, Retail Director at Specsavers in Bradford and Girlington, said: ‘We have a close relationship with Horton Park Primary School and were thrilled to assist with this exciting project. We hope that the revamped playground space brightens up the children’s play time and enhances their learning.’
