An employee at Specsavers in Bracknell has achieved her Optical Lab Technician Level 3 from the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers. Rheannon, pictured above, received her award at the Apothecary Hall in London, which lies in the heart of the early foundations of modern-day medicine and remains an integral medical institution today.
Rheannon has advanced her knowledge of frames and lenses, allowing her to develop what she can offer to Specsavers’s customers with growing confidence and proficiency. To complete the course Rheannon passed numerous exams and assignments from an array of modules. If she continues to follow this academic pathway Rheannon can become a DO, qualifying as a contact lens optician or specialising in low vision.
Taking steps further in her career
Gary Parker, store director at Specsavers in Bracknell, said: ‘It was great to see Rheannon develop her skills over the period of this course, and it was a particular honour for her to receive the diploma award in the Apothecary hall.
‘Specsavers encourages staff to advance in their careers in terms of supervisory positions as well as health qualifications as ultimately, a more confident in-store team means a happier customer’.
