All eyes will be on Specsavers Boston as it welcomes some very special guests to its official opening on Saturday 13 June. Boston United’s team manager Dennis Greene and assistant manager Martyn Bunce will join Hayley-Jo Whitney, the star of the Specsavers ‘Workout’ TV commercial, to officially open the re-located Specsavers store at 9 Wide Bargate.
Join in the fun!
Hayley-Jo Whitney, who played the role of a short-sighted fitness teacher accidently performing at a bingo evening for the elderly, will be performing outside the new store between 10am and 2pm.
Shoppers will be invited to join in the fun routine which, just like the TV ad, will be performed to the soundtrack of catchy pop song ‘Sexy And I Know It’, and feature movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance.
There will also be a caricaturist on hand with visitors able to have their portraits created in return for donations to St Barnabas, Lincolnshire Hospice – the store’s nominated charity.
‘We’re delighted and honoured that Dennis and Martyn are joining us to help celebrate this milestone, and I’m sure Hayley-Jo’s routines will help create a real spectacle,’ said store director Joanne Curtis. ‘It’s also a fitting opportunity to fundraise for our nominated charity, St Barnabas which provides vital specialist palliative and end of life care.
Marking 25 years
Specsavers in Boston first opened in 1989 at 29 Market Place with a team of just four staff, carrying out approximately 20 eye examinations a week. Today a team of 15 carry out more than 200 sight tests per week. The new store boasts four test rooms, all of which are downstairs, and also includes a dedicated hearing room, complete with soundproof hearing booth.
‘Looking back over the last 25 years, it’s amazing to see how the business has changed,’ added Joanne. ‘But our values and commitment remain the same – ensuring that we provide the very best in eye care to all our customers, and we can’t wait to show them around the new store.’
