The team from Boston Specsavers, hospital staff and local companies donned their finery on Saturday 8 October at the Boston Ophthalmology Charity Eye Ball to raise much-needed funds for the eye department at Pilgrim Hospital.
Along with several other local businesses, members of staff from Specsavers at 9 Wide Bargate donated a pair of designed sunglasses worth £149 drawn during the raffle which raised an overall total of £880.20.
‘It was a fantastic evening and great fun was had by all,’ said Danielle Moore, sister in charge of the eye department. ‘We managed to raise around £3,000 in total for the eye department through ticket sales, donations and the raffle, which will go towards buying additional medical equipment.'
A community event
She continued: ‘This was the fifth annual Eye Ball, held at the Poachers Country Hotel in Kirton Holme, and we hope that it will continue as a community effort to grow and raise funds for the clinic.’
Store director Amy Marshall, commented: ‘We had a wonderful evening and are delighted for the hospital with the amount raised. It was fantastic to be able to contribute towards that in some way, to help eyecare in Boston be at the cutting edge of current practice.’
