Specsavers in Boscombe are offering even more diabetic screenings to customers with diabetes since the opening of their new store.

Regular screenings

Zena Lee is the lead diabetic screener at the store. She said: ‘We see around four people per hour for screenings.

‘We offer these six days a week, at evenings, weekends and even bank holidays so that we can accommodate as many people as possible.

Simple procedure

‘Diabetic screenings are essential for those with diabetes so that any problems such as haemorrhages can be highlighted early on. It’s a very simple procedure which involves us checking the customer’s vision, putting drops in their eyes, waiting for around 20 minutes and then taking photos of their eyes.

Once every year

‘Diabetic patients should have a screening done once every year – it’s important that this happens as any conditions left unnoticed could be sight-threatening.’
