Store manager Mathew Robinson has just qualified as a dispensing optician, following completion of a three year degree course.
Balancing full time work with lots of studying
Mathew balanced full time work with his three year distance learning course, which balanced home study with occassional lectures and seminars at the Angela Ruskin University in Cambridge, where his final qualification was certified.
Mathew had to put his life on hold for the last three years in order to achieve his qualification, and is now looking forward to a more hands on role at the Bootle opticians.
Putting his hard work into practice
Mathew said: 'All of the hard work was worth it! I really enjoyed the course, but at the same time, its great to get time back and I'm also looking forward to putting everything I've learnt into practice here at the Bootle store.
'Specsavers is a great place to work and really encourages its staff to develop their skills - they've been really supportive throughout my course, for which I'm very grateful!'
A brilliant achievement
Sara Taylor, director at the Bootle store said: 'Mathew is a valued member of the team and we are all so pleased for him - he worked extreemly hard to get his qualification and we are all more than confident that he'll be a fantastic dispensing optician too.'
